The aim of the policy is to explain how the organisation complies with the requirements of the Irish Data Protection Act (1998), and the Irish Data Protection (Amendment) Act (2003). This Policy offers an insight into how we collect, process store and occasionally share personal information and how you can engage with us in relation to it.
2. Who we are
SPORTSCO Leisure Centre in Dublin 4 comprises of a large gym, 25m swimming pool, sports hall, fitness studios, tennis, squash courts and 5-a-side soccer pitches. We’re located on a 4-acre site at South Lotts Road. SPORTSCO was established in 1979 and its commitment to continual improvement, along with almost 40 years of experience has ensured its position as one of the leading leisure facilities in the country.
3. How we collect your information
When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, join as a member, sign up for a course, make a booking or partake in any other activity at SPORTSCO, we imply that you consent to our collecting this information and using it for that specific reason only.
We also actively or passively collect information through our website, social media, surveys, feedback forms and CCTV.
Our website uses ‘cookies’, small pieces of information sent to your device by our server when you browse our website. Cookies collect anonymous statistical data about patterns of searching/viewing and help us to improve the website’s performance. It is possible to disable cookies in your browser preferences.
4. How we keep your information safe
We apply secure physical and electronic storage procedures throughout our business to safeguard your data. All necessary care is taken to meet the required standards. If you contact us to enquire what information we have about you, please be aware that for privacy reasons we will have to ask you to identify yourself. We will also not disclose your personal information to another party without your consent.
5. How long we keep your personal information
We tend to keep your personal information for the shortest possible time but in line with our legal and regulatory obligations. These obligations might include: contract terms & conditions; consent purposes and other legitimate reasons.
6. Consent and Marketing
We would like to keep you up to date with our events and courses, however we leave it up you to sign up for our newsletter operated via MailChimp. When you subscribe, the information you provide will be transferred to MailChimp in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms. You also have an option to connect with us via our Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram. We might occasionally contact you via email or a provider like Survey Monkey in relation to your experience in SPORTSCO, to get your feedback or make you aware of our services. To do this we will seek your permission and you will have an option to opt out anytime.
7. Third-Party processors
In the course of our role as Data Controller, we sometimes need to share your information with third-parties. This could range from a list of bookies for an external instructor to sharing membership contact information with joint corporate controllers (in case a company pays for your membership and the application is handled by your HR). However, no sensitive information would be disclosed.
Our suppliers, such as IT Services, CCTV security and database providers will also have access to member personal data on occasions. In general, these third-party suppliers will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. In this case, a formal, written contract is in place, outlining their obligations in relation to the Personal Data, the specific purpose for which they are engaged, and the understanding that they will process the data in compliance with the Irish Data Protection legislation.
However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions. For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled.
8. International Data Transfer
We do not transfer your data outside the EEA and our cloud back-up is hosted in Ireland.
9. Your rights as a Data Subject
As a data subject you have certain rights regarding your personal data and we are happy to work with you to exercise those rights. You can ask us for a copy of your personal information that we hold or to update, correct, delete and move your information. You can also remove previously given consent. Please note that this does not affect the terms and conditions of a contract.
